The following questions are ones we are frequently asked by our clients. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions that aren't answered here.
Q: What sort of data do you need to provide a translation estimate?
If you send us the document you want to have translated, we can provide you with an accurate estimate. If the document is not yet ready, please give us the character or word count, and a basic idea of what type of document it is. All estimates are free.
Q: How long do translations take?
It depends on the subject and type of translation, but we can usually return a 400 character translation the following business day. Please let us know if your project is urgent – rush fees apply to urgent jobs (twice the normal price).
Q: Do you also provide design, layout, and other services?
Yes, we do. We can even prepare a design for you from scratch.

Q: I would like to print a color catalog. Can you assist me?
Yes. We will need information including Macintosh or Windows data, the version of your DTP publishing software, font information, whether or not the text has been outlined, etc.
Q: Can you help me create multilingual versions of my website?
We can provide translations in HTML format, and also edit image files (JPEG or GIF), that can be uploaded to the Internet.
Q: Does the price of translation vary according to document type?
It varies according to text content, field, type, and degree of difficulty.
Q: Do you use Trados?
English translations can be completed in Trados.
Q: I have a great deal of material that I need translated quickly. Can I divide it up between several translators?
Yes, but we don't recommend this method. Dividing a project between several translators means that it's difficult to keep vocabulary and word choice consistent, so it should only be done when there is no other choice. If you must use this method to translate your document, it is first necessary to extract the words and phrases that must be made consistent. Trados can also be useful is this case.
Q: I'd like to use the same translator that did my last project. Is this possible?
We keep close track of who completes what project, so we can provide the same translator if their schedule allows.
Q: How do you perform quality control?
When we receive your document, we determine what field it falls into and which of our registered translators would be most suitable to translate it. In the case of Japanese to English translation, the document is translated by a native English speaker, then checked by another native speaker. A third native speaker then checks the finished product against the original Japanese text. In this way, the highest quality is ensured.
